What can I do if I'm having technical issues?

While the LA Careers system is continuously improving and becoming more mobile friendly, it is still recommended that you only apply using a pc or laptop for the best possible experience.

If you do not have access to a pc or laptop, we recommend looking for public use terminals at your local library or, if you are in the Baton Rouge area, going to Civil Service's Baton Rouge Recruiting and Outreach Center where we have public use terminals and staff that can assist you. That office is located at 5825 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70806.

The LA Careers system supports all web browsers used by 10% or more of applicants, but we find that Google Chrome works the best. If you encounter difficulty in the application process, upgrading to one of these browsers may resolve your issues.

We strongly discourage the use of work issued email accounts or any email account you may lose access to in the future. Your ability to reset your account password or recover a forgotten username at a later date is dependent on maintaining access to the email account used when creating your LA Careers username and password.

If you lose access to the email address used to create your LA Careers account, Civil Service cannot change or update it, nor can we assist you in recovering your username and/or password.

You must make every effort to recover access to the email account through your email service provider. If you cannot, you will need to create a new LA Careers account using a different email address.

Civil Service does not have access to your LA Careers username. That information is private. We cannot help you recover it or tell you what it is.

If you have forgotten your username you must follow the link provided at the LA Careers login screen as shown below:

You will be prompted to enter the email address associated with your LA Careers account and answer a simple math question:

After completing those steps a username email reminder will be sent to the email address associated with your account.

Password reset emails are sent immediately but delivery can depend on your email provider. Be sure to check your spam/junk mail folder if you do not see the e-mail in your inbox. If you still have not received the e-mail, add the e-mail address noreply@governmentjobs.com to your Contacts. If it still is not received, contact technical support at your e-mail service provider to determine if the reset password e-mail is being filtered out or blocked.

You should have your own unique LA Careers account.

Sharing accounts is not allowed. Sharing an account between yourself and another person will cause substantial difficulties in the application process and may result in missing out on a job opportunity you have applied for. It can also cause serious problems with test scores. Passing test scores are electronically attached to any application you submit in the system which requires that score. Passing scores are associated with your application by social security number and you risk not having a required test score or the wrong test score being attached to a submitted application which may result in the loss of a job opportunity

Attachments are allowed on LA Careers applications in the following file formats: .pdf, .htm, .html, .xls (Excel Spreadsheet), .doc (Microsoft Word Document), and .txt.

Applicants may still occasionally have trouble attaching documents even using allowable file formats. To aid with this Civil Service requires agencies that screen applicants using attachments (such as transcripts, licensure, et. al.) to provide an alternative means of submission, usually either an email address or fax number where the required document may be sent. If you are having difficulty uploading an attachment required by the agency, you should look in the Supplemental Information section of the posting for an alternative means of submission.

Once established, a username cannot be changed. You cannot update or alter it in any way.
